The coronavirus pandemic should be behind us. However, if we need to postpone/cancel our trip due to COVID-19, we have a plan that ensures the safety of your money if:

• Covid-19 impacts the safety of the trip
• If yours or the Spanish government restricts travel
• If we are concerned about the health of our travelers

Should any of the above occur, you will have the option to postpone to a future trip or receive a full refund.

All funds are held in an escrow account until the trips begin.

Selection is a case-by-case scenario based on your application and interview.

We don't want you to get into a harmful situation or in over your head.

We also have limited space and can't take everyone.

If you are not selected, please respect our decision. 

Yes! We will keep a waitlist of individuals to reach out to in case there are cancellations.

We will ask you what your disability-specific needs are during your interview. If there is somebody specific like a friend, spouse, or caretaker that helps you with your care, we strongly recommend they join you on this once-in-a-lifetime journey. They will need to be in good physical condition and need to be a part of the interview process so we can vet them.

Important! If you are unable to care for yourself, a companion is required for you to go on this trip.

We would LOVE for you to apply! When filling out your application, you will have the opportunity to clarify this, and we can talk with you further about how you can help. But, in a nutshell, you will be pushing, pulling, lifting, getting food, getting drinks for those who need it.

People often ask if they will be pushing the entire time. The short answer is no. We aim for a 6 to 1 ratio (if not higher) of helpers to those needing assistance. This way, there is plenty of time to take breaks and enjoy the experience.

We do not assign anyone to help a specific person. Rather, we encourage people to look for opportunities to be of service and to make sure we have two or three people with each wheelchair user at all times.

You should know that we give preference to people with limited mobility and their friends/family. But there is always room for those who want to help!

Unfortunately, no. We are very intentional about creating these groups. Everyone goes through an interview process, and we need to know details about the people who join. Having people jumping in to help without knowing and understanding the nuances and details of the group and people's individual needs is a liability.

No. After your interview, and if we determine you are a good fit, you have three options to choose from:

1. Pay in full option. You will save 10% (Or $425 USD) off of the full price.
2. Monthly payment option.
3. Customized payment option.

For options 2 and 3, you will be required to pay a 20% non-refundable deposit to secure your spot(s).

After your 20% deposit, you can either pay monthly, in chunks, or in total, as long as the entire balance is paid 60 DAYS prior to departure.

We decided to omit lunches as part of the group pricing because everyone will be walking/rolling at different paces, and it would be nearly impossible to coordinate lunches together. The good news is, lunches on the Camino are inexpensive and can be quite good!

We recommend a Bocadillo (ham and cheese sandwich) and a Cafe con Leche. Yummy.

We pass through several towns on each day's hike. Packing a lunch is not necessary as each town has some great places to grab a bite. 

It is a good idea to carry some snacks in your daypack to make sure you keep your body fueled.

You will be flying into the Santiago De Compostela Airport (SCQ).

Our partner, Tee Travel can coordinate picking you up from the Santiago airport when you arrive in Spain before our pilgrimage. They can also coordinate taking you back afterwards.

This includes accessible transportation as well.

You will be financially responsible for this and we will connect you with our travel liaison as we get closer to departure.

As we put this trip together, we tried to think of everything, including accessible ground transportation.

We have chartered an accessible bus and a non-accessible bus to transfer all group members to our starting city on our arrival day.

Additionally, we have a wheelchair-accessible support vehicle that will transfer all of us to/from various points on the Camino each day. This same vehicle will be available at predetermined locations along the route in case it is needed.

Basically, we've got you covered!

We have accessible rooms reserved with roll-in showers*. If you decide to apply, during the interview process, we will ask you what your needs are when it comes to accessible accommodations and will accommodate you as much as possible. However, you should know that availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

*NOTE: Accessible rooms in Spain are different than those in the US. They are typically smaller in nature but big enough to navigate a wheelchair in and around the room. We have done our absolute best to find accommodations for our disabled "Captains".

Additionally, all hotels have an elevator (lift) that is big enough to fit wheelchairs.

We have photos and room/hotel specifications if you'd like to see them prior to finalizing your spot(s) in the group.

Every airline treats accessibility a little differently, but there are some basic guidelines and tricks to traveling with a wheelchair. Justin will fill you in on how to navigate international travel with a wheelchair if you are selected.

In Santiago de Compostela, there is a medical supply company that can provide medical equipment like "Hoyer" lifts (a lift to get you out of your wheelchair into a bed/bathroom), commode chairs, extra wheelchairs, etc.

We will need to know about any specific equipment needs during your interview. 

The cost of additional equipment and the arrangement for delivery is your responsibility.

This journey requires a manual wheelchair. If you do not have one, don't worry. We can connect you with several different groups that offer grants that will pay for most, if not all, of a chair required for this journey.

We have had a number of individuals use their everyday wheelchair on the Camino by changing their tires to off-road ones and by using a Freewheel.

A Freewheel is a product that converts a four-wheeled wheelchair into a three-wheeled device.

We can talk about how this works in your interview.

A journey of this type will require gear such as a pack, shoes, appropriate socks, and more. We have a private website where all these questions are answered for those who are selected to be a part of one of our trips.

Since we will be driving to and from our hotel each day, you will only need a daypack for the trail. This is a small, lightweight backpack good for carrying water, a rain jacket, and snacks. Additionally, you can also store items on the bus as we will be passing them at least once a day.

Anything else you bring (clothes, bathroom items, etc.) will be stored safely in your room.
